The power of decision, is when you decide to change or do something. This power is so important and powerful that not even God can interfere with anyone’s decision.
No one can interfere with our decisions, God being sovereign and having the power to do anything will never stop us from doing what we want. Because He will never contradict His own decision, when He gave mankind the power of free will. Although, God never approved of the decisions that many took in the bible; such as Eve when she decided to eat the forbidden fruit. God never stopped her. Nor did God approve of Cain’s decision to kill his own brother. God didn’t stop him.
We can see that the power to be able to decide is one of the most important powers in the world. In the time of Daniel there was a king named, Nebuchadnezzar, who worshipped other gods and even though he had the children of Israel as captives, Nebuchadnezzar recognised the holiness of God, when he took the holy items from the Temple, and never touched them.
Nebuchadnezzar had an understanding that although he never served the God of Israel, he respected God. And God considered Nebuchadnezzar his servant to fulfil a purpose, so that the people of Israel could return to God.
But one day Nebuchadnezzar because of pride and the decision to praise himself, became unrecognisable, the king had turned into an animal.
‘And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom is from generation to generation.’ (Daniel 4:34)
After the King regained his understanding, he made the decision to look up to the heavens and to recognise that God was everything. In that very moment king Nebuchadnezzar was restored.
Now, do you feel like you have ruined your chances of Salvation? Do you worry that the mercy of God for your life has ended? Well, it doesn’t matter what you have done in your past – there is hope for you.
In the same way, the Lord Jesus also had the power to decide and decided to sacrifice His life so that we can have a new life.
Change happens the moment you decide to change, if you say, ‘I decide to change’ but do not know how or where to start, today could be the beginning of your new life.
Even though, you may have failed in past decisions, you have the opportunity to make this decision this Sunday as we will take part in the Lord’s Supper of ‘I decide to change’.
It only takes one moment, one decision for a change to happen inside of you.
God’s arms are wide open for you to return to Him. But the power to decide is yours!
