For years, Herlei Rodrigues dedicated himself to witchcraft magic, but when he needed help, he had to turn to the Only One who can change everything

Magic teachers don’t just exist in fiction and Herlei Rodrigues, 48 years old, was one of them. He says he frequented “spirit houses” and that, despite his training in mechanical engineering and postgraduate studies in France, he specialized until he became a master of magic and opened his own school. “For several years, I trained and initiated a series of magicians and mediums. I got to the point of forming spiritual doctors”, he details.

His desire was to help other people, but he reveals that he began to doubt his actions. “I asked questions like: ‘Why do I make someone feel good and, after a while, they feel bad? Why do I have a cure today, but then the person comes back worse?’ Even so, I continued because that was my world. I lived 24 hours for them. I saw, heard and felt spirits. Sometimes I would wake up at night with a spirit calling me to do a job and, whatever time it was, I would go out and do it. I was a ‘spirit waiter,’” he says.

When he lost his job, his financial condition changed and he tried to start a new job and even open a company, but nothing happened. His rock bottom was when he discovered his ex-wife’s betrayal. Even so, he believed that the spirits would change the financial and family situation that was affected. “It was months and nothing. I begged them to help me!, but nothing changed. It shook my faith,” he recalls.

The answer

He rejected his sister’s invitations to go to the Universal church, until she took an evangelist to him. Herlei says that he challenged her and told her: “’I am here disturbed, without peace and seeing all kinds of demons. If you say a prayer and I have a minute of peace, I will listen to you and convert to her God.’” Thanks to the simple and faith-filled prayer made by the evangelist, he had the peace he had always sought and decided to fulfill his promise.

In search of a new life, he sought his deliverance, was baptised in water and learned that he could prolong that peace if he received the baptism with the Holy Spirit. This is how he emptied himself of himself and left his ego, his pride and his desires at the Altar. “I had already received many spirits, but, at that moment, I received the Holy Spirit and I realized that nothing compares to this certainty, this conviction, this faith. It’s something indescribable, it’s much bigger than anything. There is nothing like the Holy Spirit,” he states.

Today, he is married to Nádia, a woman who honors him, has two children (Sarah, 15, and Miguel, 8) and has reestablished his professional life. “I exchanged the school of magic for the school of Faith and I try to help people to really find the true God”, he concludes.
