Develop your talents to make a difference
That’s how Joseph moved from slave to governor of Egypt. Find out more.
Everyone wants to be different and make a difference, but how can you achieve this nowadays? At our last Financial Independence meeting, we spoke about the importance of knowing your talent and investing in it, in order to develop your finances.
First, ask yourself two questions:
- What is your business?
- What is your talent?
For many, the pandemic was a big challenge. Some businesses closed, however many new companies opened up. Either you develop your talent, or be stuck.
A biblical example of someone who developed his talent– despite the several hardships he faced – was Joseph, son of Israel.
When he was 17 he was sold by his brothers into slavery, but in the house where he worked, he developed his talent as an administrator. Sometime later he was unjustly arrested, however, even in prison he stood out because he developed his talent – given by God.
In the same way, you also have a talent. But what are you doing about it? Do you know what your talent is? Have you been developing it?
Perseverance
While Joseph was struggling as a slave and prisoner, he developed his talent because he had wisdom from God. The process took 22 years, but he finally had the opportunity to be in the presence of the world’s most powerful man at the time: Pharaoh.
“And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” (Genesis 41:38-40).
It didn’t happen because he was a learned person. It was because he had God’s direction and, at the same time, he invested in his gift of management. God was glorified through Joseph’s life and likewise, He wants to be glorified through your life.
Perhaps your goal is simply to pay off a debt, but God doesn’t just want that. He wants to change your story! And this is only possible if you surrender yourself to Him, like Joseph did.
Don’t be stuck in time. God gave you a talent to develop, multiply, make a difference and to honour His business – which is to save souls. He will guide and enable you to do so, but you must take action to develop this talent.
