A Powerful Secret to Remain Standing
We are tempted every day. The devil sets up snares and situations. He constantly works in order to destroy those who belong to God. His goal is to turn them away from heaven; To make them lose their focus on salvation.
More than two thousand years ago, the Lord Jesus left us a powerful secret to keep the flame of faith alive within us and it has made a great impact in the lives of many.
On the other hand, those who do not consider His Word as being important, or those who despise it, end up committing the same mistake as Lucifer, and of those who once walked with God. Observe:
Lucifer was in heaven, in the company of the Creator. He was one of the most beautiful and most important angels of all and yet, he fell and become Satan.
“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!” Isaiah 14:12
Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden (Paradise) and enjoyed all of the Father’s care. Unfortunately, they fell and lost their communion with Him. You know the consequences of their fall very well.
“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” Genesis 3:9
Samson was considered the strongest man during his days, but his strength did not keep him from falling when he was tempted.
“… and his strength left him.” Judges 16:19
David was a man after God’s own heart and still, he fell into sin. (1 Samuel 13:14)
“Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house.” 2 Samuel 11.2-4
Although Solomon was the richest and wisest man in the world, it did not keep him from falling.
“For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.” 1 Kings 11:4
As we can see from these examples, the problem is not the place we are in or the role we currently occupy. Lucifer was in heaven, Adam and Eve were in paradise, Samson was as Judge of Israel, David was resting in his palace and Solomon was surrounded with much wealth and knowledge. Yet, they still fell.
“And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” Matthew 6:13
In order for us to remain in the faith, we need to follow this millennia-old secret that was revealed to us by the Lord Jesus. That is, to pray to the Father in this way with all humility, so that He may give us the strength to be able to endure and overcome each and every temptation. Only vigilance and a life of fellowship and trust in God can deliver and protect us from all evil.
“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” 1 Corinthians 10:12
If by any chance, you have lost your fellowship with God and have fallen, do as King David did. He humbled himself to God, repented of his sin and lifted himself up.
May God bless you all!
